Tips To Make Your Bed and Bath, Look and Feel Larger

Below are some very easy tips to make your bed and bath seem a lot larger than they actually are.

Your bedroom is the one room in the house that should feel like no other. Relaxation and unwinding from a stressful day should be a regular occurrence in your bedroom. Though the size of your bedroom has you puzzled as to decorating, organizing and maximizing its small nature. Your bedroom can be all you dream of with some simple ideas and tips.

- Remove clutter. The more items you have in your bedroom the more cramped up it will feel. Remove things that are not necessary, when you enter the room, you want your eye to gracefully scan the room.

- Buy furniture that maximizes wall space. Opt for rectilinear furniture as opposed to curved. Wall hung night stands are a great option to maximize the floor footprint in your bedroom.

- Scale the décor by the size of your bed. Depending on the size of your bedroom, your bed will most likely be the focal point.

- Add visual interest to your ceiling. Tray ceilings add a fifth dimension to the room. If you have a standard ceiling, consider using a lighter color to fool the eye into the illusion of space.

- Choose dressers and armoires that are appropriate for your room size. The more functions you can condense, the larger your room will feel.

- Find creative uses for storage. Use your imagination when it comes to storage. A small bedroom could benefit from multifunction pieces.

- If you decide to have a TV, consider a flat screen type that can be mounted on the wall or one that will take up minimal space.

- Choose your colors wisely. Dark colors in an already small room can make your bedroom feel like a cave. Bring in natural lights as much as possible to illuminate the space and your mood.

- Create a focal point that will draw the eyes away from the small room. Use your imagination to accentuate the positive about your room and remove emphasis from the small nature of your bedroom.

Unless you live in a custom-built home with a luxurious bed and bath, you probably wish your bathroom were larger. No matter what decorating style you chose, your bed and bath will in reality still be a small area. But with a bit of visual magic, color change and lighting, you can transform your small bath into a cozy retreat.

- Select colors for serenity. Pale, soft colors tend to give the illusion of more space. Avoid strong, exciting colors. Use the bright colors for accessories, but select ‘cool’ colors to give the feeling of serenity.

- Brighten up the room. Without taking up any counter space, you can add extra lighting to open up the look of your bathroom and add interest.

- Trade a large Vanity for a delicate pedestal sink. It takes up a lot of floor space. Find an alternative storage space for your belongings.

- Cut back anything that sticks out. Even the smallest piece of furniture or accessory that sticks out into the room can stop where your eye goes and make your room seem to shrink.

The aforementioned tips are very useful to make your small bedroom seem larger and make your tiny bathroom seem cozy.
